EMAT is one of the leading Emergency Medicine Research pioneers in Tanzania. Through our main collaborators, including the Emergency Medicine Department at Muhimbili University of Health and Allied Sciences (MUHAS), Muhimbili National Hospital (MNH) and African Federation for Emergency Medicine (AFEM), we have executed several high quality prospective clinical research that impact care of patients and emergency care systems as a whole.
Our main areas of interests include Trauma, Sepsis, acute complications of chronic illnesses (especially HIV and Sickle cell), medical Education, and Emergency Care systems development.
EMAT also offers research internship and mentorship to interested junior scientists who wish to pursue a career in clinical research focusing on emergency medicine. The research internship is a one-year research mentored position that is awarded to a graduate medical doctor or a nurse with strong interest in research. In this position, the intern participates in ongoing research projects and is also given opportunity to undertake appropriate a research project of his/her desire.
